To celebrate Urban Agriculture Month we're throwing open our garden gates for an Open Garden (half) day.
This November 10th (a Sunday), 9am - 1pm, come have a sticky beak at our steep edible garden, chickens, ducks, orchards, unicorn sculpture and goats (and cute dog) to get some ideas for how you can activate your own patch or pot plant.
We, (Hannah and Anton), bought our 1/4 acre property in 2013. After 4 years of gardening and renovating, we bought the neighbouring block and merged to make our property 3/4 acre. That’s when things got really serious/fun and we unleashed our full garden dreams onto the world. We now have a hot pink house with sheds, a new greenhouse that looks like it belongs in fairy land, milking goats, pumping veg patch and a diverse orchard which is both productive and stablising our steep slopes.
The whole thing is inspired by permaculture design which means the whole landscape is focused on building holistic ecosystem health. We’re interested in healthy soils, cycling nutrients through compost systems, perennial landscapes and welcoming lots of native birds back into our patch.
