Love to get your hands dirty, growing good food to share among the community? We are offering a weekly two-hour volunteer session on Saturday mornings (8am-10am). By signing up to join us for these sessions you'll be involved in managing the community food forest we have established at the Camperdown farm, and helping it grow into a dense and nourishing space of free food. We will also get hands on composting and propagating plants to raise in the greenhouse.
You'll be involved in the day-to-day work which includes care of all existing plants, planting of new ones to create additional food forest layers, weeding, composting, propagating plants and making the space easy for all to use and care for, helping build an integrated and fairer food system in our city. Please note we cannot guarantee particular tasks on any given day. If you do not see a date listed, we have reached capacity for that session or are taking a break for school and public holidays.
Children are welcome, however must be accompanied and supervised by their parents or guardian. Volunteers with disability are also invited to join us - if a carer is needed please ensure that they attend with you. Advise us in the notes below of special needs and we will do our best to find an activity that is suitable.
By registering below your place is confirmed in the volunteer session for the date chosen. You will receive an email confirmation with details of the session plus a link to change or cancel the session if your plans change and you cannot come. These sessions book out well in advance so please make sure you release your place for someone else if you cannot make it on the day.
Please BYO hat and water bottle, and own gloves if desired. Wear sturdy flat enclosed shoes. We really value the time spent by volunteers and look forward to seeing you soon!
