Ever wondered about growing food on public land? Unsure of where to start or what to consider?

This workshop is for you!

Come and visit one of Yarra City Council’s trial projects ‘Small Communal Growing Space’ and learn about the benefits and experiences of growing food for your local community.

This workshop will be run by the Michela Renders the Urban Agriculture Project Officer for Yarra City Council and will cover:

- A short site tour of the plantings and infrastructure (planter boxes)
- Benefits of growing food in public space
- A brief history of the project and how the group organise themselves
- What to think about when selecting a site, getting permission, preparing the soil, maintaining the garden and choosing the right edible plants for sharing with neighbours, friends and passers by.

This workshop is part of Yarra City Councils’ Urban Agriculture Month celebrations, it will be held twice (repeated), once at each ‘Small Communal Growing Space’, so choose the location suited to you.

This event will be held outside onsite, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Spaces are limited, so if you cannot make it, please let us know so we can make the ticket available to others.
